Our Mission

The purpose of the Association for the Improvement of Minorities is to educate and develop our members to their fullest career and personal potential, and instill in them the highest degree of confidence in their abilities; in a manner that is free from negative influence and discriminatory policies and practices. To achieve that purpose, we will:

A. Educate and Counsel our members as to opportunities for career and personal advancement;
B. Foster Equal Employment Opportunity;
C. Provide a Self-Help Network to further the general welfare of our members;
D. Promote local and community wide services that assist individuals seeking career and educational support;
E. Cooperate with all government agencies and other organizations in taking lawful actions to ensure the removal of discriminatory policies and practices.

48th ABMTS Highlights

The 2017 ABMTS was truly SIZZLIN'!!! We had an outstanding week. The Sheraton Arlington laid out the red carpet for us in royal fashion. All the activities were so powerful. We first made sure to handle the business aspects of the organization via the Board & Annual Business meetings. Then we kicked off the conference with an Opening Session that was packed with wisdom and inspiration.  We kept the momentum going with a sensational Leadership forum & Plenary Sessions. The Networking event was full of joy and laughter as people were flaunting their Jeans & Bling. The Workshops were AMAZING, full of nuggets for success. We turned it up a few notches during the Night of Stars Gala event. And closed out by praising & moving forward at the Interfaith Service. The Angels In Motion and the Voices of AIM-IRS set the stage and our very own Dr. Annette Jones blessed us in recognizing our individual and organizational growth process through the Potter's hands....Still Spinning!!!

We definitely want to give honor and thanks to all the Conference Co-Chairs, Wendy Mooring & Gary Thomas, the committee organizers & members, the speakers /presenters, the Southwest Region and all that made the year's conference a SIZZLNG Success!!!

Remember that we are now doing our souvenir book electronically. Check it out! 2017 Souvenir eBook. Thanks to Annette Baldwin & team for another great publication.
